My Approach

With Dorsey Visuals, the experience starts long before I ever pick up my camera. I believe that capturing someone beautifully means actually seeing them, so every session begins with connection and real conversation.

When we work together, it’s never just a shoot. It feels more like hanging out, talking, laughing, and slowly building a friendship. I take time to learn who you are, what lights you up, what makes you laugh, and the stories you carry. All of that helps me capture you in a way that feels natural and true to you.

During your session, I guide you with gentle direction and plenty of encouragement. I offer poses that feel comfortable, give little cues to bring out emotion, and leave room for those candid moments that happen on their own. I’ll crack silly jokes, hype you up, and adjust everything from lighting to movement so you feel confident and seen.

I’m there for the nervous moments and the loud laughs, making sure you never feel rushed or overly posed. Whether I’m framing a shot that shows your quiet strength or catching a smile that lasts half a second, I pay attention to the tiny details and hold them with care.

FAQ

Do you travel for photoshoots?

Yes, I do! I happily serve clients all across North Carolina—whether it's the mountains, the coast, or the quiet charm of a small town. If you’ve got a place that’s meaningful to you, I’m already halfway packed. Let’s go wherever your story lives.

What should i/we wear for the session?

Wear what feels like you. I encourage clients to express themselves through their own fashion—whether that’s earthy tones, whimsical textures, or something bold and bright. If you need guidance on coordinating outfits or building a cohesive look, I’m more than happy to help with inspiration or styling suggestions. Comfort meets beauty—that’s our goal.

How far in advance should i book my session?

I recommend reaching out at least a month in advance to secure your preferred date, but I also embrace spontaneity! If it’s a last-minute idea, message me—I’ll do my best to make it work. Your story deserves to be told, even if it comes together quickly.

Do i need to have a location planned?

Not necessarily—but it’s definitely helpful. If you already have a dream spot in mind, fantastic! If not, I can provide a curated list of beautiful and versatile locations. I also double-check and let you know whether professional photography permits or fees are required in those areas, so you're never caught off guard.

Can I bring my pet(s)?

Yes please—bring all the fur-babies! Pets are family, and they add so much heart to your session. Whether it’s a pup curled up in your arms or a curious cat stealing the show, I’m ready to capture their charm. Just let me know ahead of time so we can prepare accordingly.

Can I bring props?

Absolutely! I love when clients personalize their shoot with props that tell their story. From picnic baskets and vintage bikes to floral setups or sentimental keepsakes—bring what you love. Just keep in mind the shoot’s timeframe so we can incorporate everything seamlessly.

Do you offer albums or prints?

Coming very soon! I’m working on offering professionally crafted albums and fine-art prints that bring your visuals off the screen and into your space. Stay tuned—you’ll be the first to know when they’re ready

How long does it take to get our photos?

Your final gallery will be delivered within 4–6 weeks after your session. I take time to thoughtfully edit each image so it reflects the emotion and artistry behind your story. You may even receive a sneak peek before then, just because I can’t wait for you to see the results.

Can I request edits or changes to the final product?

Yes, yes, yes, and yes again. My goal is for you to absolutely love your gallery. If something doesn’t quite feel right or you had different expectations, I’m here to adjust, refine, and make sure the final product feels true to you. Just reach out and let’s make it perfect together.
